Reset Protection Counter for Epson R270
Here is the resetter program for Epson Stylus Photo R270.
Please follow the steps below to reset the protection counter effectively.
- If you have any anti virus software, please deactivate first.
The resetter software (adjprog.exe) requires specific date to run and your anti virus will prevent that. - Make sure you printer is ON and connected to your computer.
- Run “Start.bat” file.
This program will set your computer date to 18 Jan 2007. - Click “Accept” button.
- Click “Particular adjustment mode” button.
- Select on “Waste ink pad counter” and click “OK” button.
- Click on “Initialization” button and the program will reset the protection counter.
- Click “Finish” button.
- Change your computer’s date back when it prompted.
- Reactivate your anti virus if any.

Hi! I was very glad to find thie site, the instructions are very clear but it didn´t work the resetter program for my Epson Stylus Photo R270. I don´t know why, perhaps because it is a new model… I’ve got no idea.

Hi, my R270 is having service error, maintanance required problem. My supplier asked me to bring them the printer and they can help me to reset and they will charge me 50 bucks. But I would like to try if there is a way to reset the printer by myself, could you please kindly advice me? Thanks.

Dear friends,
I just purchased an Epson Stylus r270, and I loaded a remote continuous feeding ink.
The R270, was started to print really OK, with a very good standard, since some photos was appearing not much clear.
So I decided to use the printer functions to clean the nozzle and the print head.
In addition with an absorbent paper, manually I tried to dry from the ink, the black sponge below the head.
I did this operation with the print OFF, but when I made ON, the head went quick against the right side of the printer with a strong noise and the two red light, paper and ink, started to blinking rapidly.
I try to follow the instruction of the Adjustment Program, downloaded from the net, and following the suggestions, to open the right side of the printer to empty the waste (the thank was empty, not one drop of ink was coming out) , the red light was keeping on.
When the red light are on, the green one is off, but the light inside in the left side of the print is on.
With the Adjustment Program, I obtained all the time: “FATAL ERROR CODE 0 x 50”
And “CANNOT SEEK CR HOME POSITION”
I would like very pleased if you can help me.

Hi Daniel,
Have you moved the print-head back to orginal position after you clean the sponge below the head? Probably, this was the cause of the printer faulty when you turned back ON.
It should be all right when you restart the printer. If not, I suggest, you bring to the service center after you take out the continuous inking system.

Hi Celadore,
You should do that, but it is not an easy task to do that.
If you did it for the first time, I think it should be all right.
Bring to service center if your printer is still under warranty and make sure you put genuine cartridge on it.

I don’t think it work for vista. Many resetter programs are not ready for vista yet. Perhaps you can reset the counter manually by pressing buttons in your printer.
Refer to this post, try to find similar button at your printer. Hope this help.

Hi Rei,
Please make sure that you have enough light magenta ink inside your cartridge or not dried up.

i have an Epson 1390 inkjet printer and is giving me the following error The print head is obstructed by jammed paper or other foreign material and cannot return to the home position.
i have cleared the jamed papar and also have done Waste ink pad counter

Hi Mathias,
I dont have an exact answer for this. You can turn off the printer and move gently the print head to home position by hand.

after few prints my printing speed slows down & trust me it’s really annoying

iv got a D68 and have alternet flashing red lights betewwn the ink and paper buttons.
Iv downloaded the service utility but when i click reset protection counter i get ‘Communication error’
Im gutted as its been working wonderfully but now i cant seem to fix it. Any ideas??? Am i just missing something silly?

Hi are you able to help with Model DX4050 to reset inkpad, I have a blocked head so using a bit of ink at the moment although I have redirected the waste ink to a tub at the back so not filling the pad. Appreciate any help thanks.
