Reset Protection Counter for Epson R290
Here is the resetter program for Epson Stylus Photo R290 as requested.
Please follow the steps below to reset the protection counter effectively.
- If you have any anti virus software, please deactivate first.
The resetter software (adjprog.exe) requires specific date to run and your anti virus will prevent that. - Make sure you printer is ON and connected to your computer.
- Run “Start.bat” file.
This program will set your computer date to 1 Apr 2008. - Click “Accept” button.
- Click “Particular adjustment mode” button.
- Select on “Waste ink pad counter” and click “OK” button.
- Click on “Initialization” button and the program will reset the protection counter.
- Click “Finish” button.
- Change your computer’s date back when it prompted.
- Reactivate your anti virus if any.

This resetter can reset the protection counter for Epson Stylus C67, C68 and D68 printer. Just select your printer at the first list as shown below.

Next, select “The Upper Housing is Installed” at the third list.

Click “Ok” button and it will show the screen like below.

Select “Waste pad ink counter” and click “Ok” button to proceed.

Click “Initialization” button and it will reset your protection counter.

Reset Protection Counter Without Software
Some resetter programs may not work to reset protection counter for your printer.
Try following steps below but it depends on the printer model.
Epson Photo R200, R210, R300, R310
- Press and hold “Stop” button, follow by “Maintenance” and “Power” button together for 10 seconds.
- Turn off the printer and unplug the printer for 1 minute.
- Turn back on the printer and the counter will be resetted.
Epson All-In-One CX3100 and CX3200
- Turn OFF the printer.
- Press B/W + Color + Stop button together and hold.
- Press Power ON button and hold (4 buttons on hold now and don’t release the buttons until you see the light indicator is blinking. A message will be displayed on the LCD)
- Release all buttons.
- Press the Color button once.
- Turn OFF the printer.
- Turn ON the printer and the protection counter should be resetted.

Follow step by step below in order to reset protection counter for Epson C58.

For those who has Epson Stylus C79, Epson Stylus Photo R270 or Epson Stylus CX3900 (All-in-one), you can reset the protection counter without any software.
Follow this steps and the protection counter will be resetted.
- Switch off the printer
- Switch on the printer
- Press once the ink button
- Printer head move to left side
- Press the ink button again
- Printer head move to right side
- The red light will be disapeared, the protection counter has resetted
This instruction comes with printer purchase. Please give some comments whether this step is work.

Here is the resetter program that I have found from the Internet. Unfortunately, I don’t have this printer so I can’t test it. Please share with me whether the program can reset your printer, either Epson C79, R270 or CX3900. Your feedback is really appreciated.
Here are the steps that you have to follow in order to reset your printer.
1. Make sure you printer is ON and connected to your computer
2. Change your computer’s date to 1 Nov 2006
3. Run AdjProg.exe file
4. Click Accept button
5. Click “Particular adjustment mode”
6. Select on “Waste ink pad counter” and click OK button
7. Click on “Initialization” button and the program will reset the protection counter
8. Click Finish button
9. Change your computer’s date back
