Reset Protection Counter for Epson 1390

Feb 17, 2008 | Filed in Troubleshooting |

Here is the resetter program for Epson Stylus Photo 1390.

Please follow the steps below to reset the protection counter effectively.

  1. If you have any anti virus software, please deactivate first.
The resetter software (adjprog.exe) requires specific date to run and your anti virus will prevent that.
  2. Make sure you printer is ON and connected to your computer.
  3. Run “Start.bat” file.
This program will set your computer date to 4 Oct 2007.
  4. Click “Accept” button.
  5. Click “Particular adjustment mode” button.
  6. Select on “Waste ink pad counter” and click “OK” button.
  7. Click on “Initialization” button and the program will reset the protection counter.
  8. Click “Finish” button.
  9. Change your computer’s date back when it prompted.
  10. Reactivate your anti virus if any.

    Hi,

I’ve downloaded the software and followed all instructed steps to reset protection counter of my Epson 1390 but nothing happens.

Could you please tell me how to open the printer to clean the waste pad/sponge? Is there 2 sponges/wastes pads in the 1390, one in the right and one in the left?

How many times we can clean the sponge before we have to change it?

Is there any way to avoid the problem when the sponge is not able to absorb ink anymore - for example: we clean and absorb the ink in the sponge in order to keep the sponge dry and be able to absorb ink more?

Thank you so much! Your site is very helpful!

    Best regards!

    Hi,

Please reconfirm your printer whether the problem is waste pad full.

Cleaning the waste pad/sponge is not an easy task for most of end users. For this model, the waste pad is located at the bottom of the printer. You may need to dismantle the printer body to access them. I suggest that you bring the printer to epson service center or printer technician.

If you encounter this problem for a first time, most of the case, the sponge has not saturated yet, so it’s safe to reset it. The software provided at this post is supposed to reset it. Try to unplug the printer cable for a while and start again.

Try to read what is the value of protection counter you have now to verify the software can access the printer’s memory.

    Hope this help.

Note: If the software doesn’t work, could you tell me what is the operating system you use.
